Blippar was doing a new AR experience for Singapore Zoo on their exisiting AR tech. Their brief was to increase perceived value for visitors of the zoo. They were looking for developers who were familiar with working with 3d assets and model viewers who could also work within their java framework.

Research phase showed that zoo visitors were using their phones during their visit. We leveraged this behaviour to deliver content via augmented reality experiences. Unlike traditional QR code scanners, visitors are able to scan the associated (dino) graphics and watch the 3d models come to life from the flat image they are viewing through the camera function in the app. This was a much more interactive and engaging experience as compared to scanning a black and white qr code.
We built a gamification module to track visitor journeys along their visit, it not only aids their navigation but provides very useful visitor data to Singapore Zoo. In total we delivered a total of 16 interactive AR games, photobooth and gamification modules.
